Desktop power modules put sockets and USB charging on the desk surface, so nobody crawls underneath to plug in a phone. The range is compact: the Sourcetec Uno and Nano units with fast charge USB A and C, the CMD desktop power module bundled with a three metre mains cable, and the Impulse three socket desktop unit from Dynamic Office Solutions. Each sits on the desk rather than being cut into it.
How to choose a desktop power unit
Count what needs plugging in at each seat.
- The Sourcetec Nano gives one mains socket with dual USB, while the Uno gives two sockets with USB and an option for two Cat6 data ports.
- Choose a unit with both USB A and USB C if staff charge a mix of older and newer devices.
- Check the cable length to the nearest floor box or under desk power, with the CMD bundle including a three metre lead.
- For a bank of desks, plan a starter cable from the wall and connector cables between units so the run is tidy.
For offices, hot desks and home working
Office managers fitting hot desks and meeting tables usually want the same unit on every position, and we can price the full quantity. Designers can specify Sourcetec units with data ports where a scheme needs wired network access at the desk. A home worker who is fed up with a trailing extension lead can buy a single Nano or Uno online, with the ex VAT price shown next to the inclusive one.
Units are delivered to the UK mainland direct from the manufacturer. To price a roll-out across an office, use trade and quotes. If you would rather recess power into the desk top, see our in-desk power modules.
