This page explains what cookies and similar technologies this website uses, what each one does, and how you can change your mind at any time. It sits alongside our Privacy policy, which covers personal information more generally.
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Websites also use similar technologies such as local storage, which works in much the same way. We use the word "cookies" on this page to cover both.
Cookies let a site remember things between page loads, such as what is in your basket and whether you are signed in. They can also be used to measure how a site is used, or to support advertising.
When you first visit us you are asked to choose. You can:
Nothing in the optional categories is set unless you agree to it. Rejecting them does not stop you shopping and does not restrict any part of the site, including the basket and checkout.
You can change your choice whenever you like using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, although if you block the strictly necessary ones the basket and checkout will stop working.
These make the site work. They cannot be switched off and do not need your consent, because the site could not function without them.
| What it does | Where it is stored | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps your session with the platform, so the contact form and newsletter signup work | sessionId, a cookie set by the platform | About a day after your last visit |
| Balances traffic across the platform's servers | AWSALB and AWSALBCORS, cookies set by the platform | 7 days |
| Remembers the currency the site is displayed in | orbit_currency_code, a cookie and a local storage entry | Up to 1 year |
| Identifies which website you are browsing, so the right content loads | orbit_store_id, in local storage | Until you clear your browser data |
| Remembers the cookie choice you made, so we do not ask again on every page, and gives that choice a reference so it can be evidenced | oc-consent and oc-consent-id, cookies | 180 days |
These are set when you add something to your basket, sign in to your customer account or go through the checkout. You cannot place an order without them, so they are strictly necessary too.
| What it does | Where it is stored | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Remembers what is in your basket as you move between pages and through the checkout | [CONFIRM: cart/session cookie names], set by the platform | [CONFIRM: how long the basket is kept] |
| Keeps you signed in to your customer account, if you have one | [CONFIRM: cart/session cookie names], set by the platform | [CONFIRM: how long the sign-in lasts] |
| Lets our payment provider take your payment securely on the checkout page | Set by our payment provider. [CONFIRM WITH TIM: payment providers at launch, e.g. Orbit Payments (Stripe), PayPal, and the cookies they set at checkout] | [CONFIRM: set by the payment provider] |
Optional. These would remember preferences that make the site more convenient, such as recently viewed products. Off unless you turn them on. Nothing in this category is currently in use.
Optional. These would tell us which pages are used and where people give up, so we can improve the site. Off unless you turn them on. Nothing in this category is currently in use.
Optional. These would be used to measure advertising and to show you relevant ads on other sites. Off unless you turn them on. Nothing in this category is currently in use.
The platform this website runs on, Orbit Commerce, records the pages viewed during a visit so that we can see how many people visit the site, which pages they look at, what type of device they use and which country they are in. It is first party: nothing is shared with advertisers or any other website, and no profile of you is built across other sites. Your IP address is used only to work out the country and is not stored with the record. The entries it uses are orbit_session_id and orbit_visitor_id, in local storage, which stay until you clear your browser data. Page view records are kept for 90 days, after which only daily totals remain.
At present the platform sets these entries whichever way you answer the banner.
Beyond the platform's own visitor statistics described above, as at the date at the top of this page this website loads no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking scripts at all, whichever way you answer the banner. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel and no advertising tag on the site. We checked this by loading the site, accepting every category, and confirming that nothing further was set. [CONFIRM: repeat this check on the live Workspace Ergonomics site before launch] If we add such a tool in future, this page will be updated to name the provider and say what its cookies do before anything is set, and the banner will keep them blocked until you agree.
[CONFIRM WITH TIM: if a Judge.me reviews widget or an Omnisend signup form is embedded on the site, name it here, say what it sets, and change the wording above before launch]
When you reach the payment step of the checkout, our payment provider sets its own cookies on that page to process your card securely and to prevent fraud. Those cookies are strictly necessary for taking payment and only appear during checkout. The provider is named in the Shopping table above once confirmed, and its own cookie policy explains what it sets.
Besides the platform itself, two services are involved in delivering these pages, neither of which is advertising or analytics:
Both are operated as part of the platform and process technical data such as your IP address and browser version. They do not build a profile of you and are not used for marketing. Error reports are kept for up to 90 days.
If you follow a link from our site to somewhere else, that site sets its own cookies under its own policy. We have no control over those. Please read the policy of any site you visit.
We will update this page whenever we add or remove a cookie. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
